2013.....Still Learning......

With the concept that a blog consists of one's thoughts and aspirations, I thought it appropriate to publicly announce my " Word of the Year." I know it's late, being February and everything, but it has taken me the entire month of January to decide. I tried different concept words out, but the one that kept popping up was "completion." I am hoping that writing this blog and sharing my thoughts and projects with you my lovely readers, will keep me accountable for 2013. It was important that I take the time to realize the perfect word. Whether it is preparing a meal, thought, book or project, or whatever else, I want to take the entire process from action to a completed ending. I feel that this will definitely help one's feeling of self worth and accomplishment. I don't think that either of those side results can be a bad thing.....so......"completion"....it is. I realized as I worked on pulling the house out of the holiday frenz...

Shabby over Chic??

What to do when the "shabby" takes over the "chic?" Why do over, of course! At least that is what we have been up to on the mountain. What started as a simple ceiling repainting has morphed into a much larger project. Happy to say, that in week twenty, we are in the "move in" stage and the entire process is looking like something that will be finished. With many large windows, we have changed colors to reflect the outside and the hues found in nature. We have used Benjamin Moore colors like natural elements, french canvas, and bleecker beige to stage a neutral background. Spa blue and soft greens and greys are used in the kitchen and the family room areas. These same colors are being repeated in the master bedroom and bath. Formal areas, such as the living room and dining room are renewed with accents of black and burgundy, and teal playing off the neutral palette.
